Model United Nations Program: International cooperation, understanding, and peace are the lofty aims of the United Nations. At the OHSIRL Model United Nations the promotion of these key values is a fundamental part of the organization's philosophy. In order to foster growth in these areas, we organize the annual Spring Conference, at which students are given an opportunity to debate from the viewpoints of various U.N. member states. The preparation for the conference and the discussions that occur at the conference help students to achieve a better understanding of the complex web of political interaction that occurs on a global scale. This opportunity that I have as the Secretary-General, to work with students, advisors, and all others involved from all over the state to prepare our Spring Conference is a truly exciting prospect. We hope that our efforts toward making the 2011 Conference a fulfilling and gratifying experience for all will reflect our goals of cooperation and international well being. I welcome you, on behalf of the Secretariat, to the 2010-2011 Model United Nations. Sincerely Jim Van Horne Secretary-General |
